After over 40 years in the construction industry I know how devastating, frustrating, and expensive theft is, but not any more. After DeWalt came out with the MobileLock product my construction sites have been well protected. Oh yes thieves have continued to try to rip me off, but if I have done my job right we have stopped the thieves and put several in jail. Every time thieves try – they invariably try to heist one of our protected items on the site and we get a phone call (usually in the middle of the night) and we then sick the police on them even before they realize they have tripped an alarm. There have been a few cases when we were not available when the MobileLock made the call for help and the thieves left the site before we were aware of the heist, but we have always been able to track them by the built-in GPS tracking system. It sure has been gratifying to see the police handcuff these jerks and take them away to jail. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to just make the thieves move on down the road to my neighbors site – I want to nail the suckers and see them pay!!! DeWalt MobileLock has given me that satisfaction many times now.

I recently read an online discussion amongst a number of people trying to figure out how to secure their luggage from theft or loss while traveling. It was interesting that none of the ideas presented considered slipping a tracking device into their luggage. It seems to me to be an obvious and effective solution. I have done it many times and now days won’t travel without a DeWalt MobileLock in my checked luggage as well as my cary on. I can set it to call me if a suitcase is opened when it shouldn’t be or I can track each piece anytime I want. Seems like a small price to pay for the peace of mine it gives me.

Think you’re safe from car theft because you drive an inexpensive or older model car? Think again! Eight of the top ten most frequently stolen model years are from 1995 or earlier. This is because car thieves aren’t looking to resell your car, they’re looking for parts—which means anything is a target, especially modest, practical autos like Toyotas and Hondas. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NCIB), the following were the top ten most stolen cars in 2007:

1. Honda Civic
2. Honda Accord
3. Toyota Camry
4. Ford F-150
5. Chevrolet C/K 1500
6. Acura Integra
7. Dodge Ram Pickup
8. Nissan Sentra
9. Toyota Pickup
10. Toyota Corolla

But it’s not just the most popular cars stolen that are at risk. Even if you’re insured, no one wants to go through the hassle, frustration, and fear of having a car stolen. There are several simple prevention steps you can employ. Always lock your car, leave your windows rolled up, and park in well-lit areas. Those simple deterrents might just mean your car is passed over. You should also consider having some sort of anti-theft alarm installed to draw attention should someone attempt to steal your car.
But prevention isn’t always enough to prevent car-theft. Fortunately, technology is giving the edge to owners and police. With new innovations in vehicle GPS tracking systems, if your car is stolen, you can tell the police exactly where it’s taken—retrieving your vehicle and putting the thief behind bars. The DeWalt MOBILELOCK is a prime example. You can attach it anywhere on your vehicle and access the GPS through your cell phone or computer to track your car. Even better, with the MOBILELOCK anti theft device, you’ll be notified as your car is being broken into, increasing the odds of catching thieves before they take anything.
You may not be able to avoid someone attempting to steal your car, but now more than ever you can make certain that they won’t keep it.
